Web and App Design

I started as a Web Designer back in 2008, working for creative agencies and freelancing.

I built more expertise while working for 5 years, in the Marketing Department of an antivirus company. With time, I evolved my technique and skills - and today - I am helping others craft their unique website experience.

Design brings structure, helps optimize interactions, communicate the right message and drive sales. If you’re thinking to start a brand new design or re-design an existing website or product - I am excited to help.

Design Thinking

This is the approach I take when dealing with complex or ill-defined problems. Design poses it’s challenges and the answers are not as simple or obvious as we like to think.

There are 5 phases to this process:

  • Empathise - when I need to better understand the problem space, the people that need the solution, why would they use it over an alternative and how.
  • Define - I synthetize the research, precisely identify the needs and frame the problem for the targeted personas.
  • Ideate - I brainstorm and rapid prototype to find out the best possible idea.
  • Design - Once I get the idea, I illustrate - how it looks, the possible flows, including edge cases and more - all through wireframes and high fidelity mock-ups.
  • Test - I perform testing through clickable prototypes, but not only. It’s the moment of truth when I observe reactions from people trying the product.

DesignOps

What works in a small team, will hit a road block in larger projects and initiatives. As a consultant, I have experienced this first hand and I had to answer questions such as:

  • How are people onboarded and supported?
  • What tools do they use in order to be efficient?
  • How can designers better collaborate with engineers?
  • How do we maintain quality and consistency at scale?
  • How do we manage design assets?
  • What can we automate and how?

I have seen companies with great talent, smart people, good tools and technology stack - but if those don’t really work together - the risks and costs are higher than expected.

I offer some clues in my case study titled: “CEMEX - Design Language System”. If you’re current organization needs help in figuring those things out and improving the design teams overall performance - mail icondon’t hesitate to reach out.

Agile Methodologies

SCRUM, Kanban, Lean - this is how teams run in order to deliver the maximum possible output in the shortest amount of time.

Beyond my diploma iconPSM certification (Professional Scrum Master), the years of hands-on practice as individual contributor and lead in my area, made me empower teams advance with their mission.

I tend to work closely with the Product Owners and Business Analysts in order to spot opportunities, mediate risks and solve bottle-necks. If your agile team is currently missing someone with design expertise - or you need a lead designer - mail iconlet’s have a talk!

Coaching and Mentoring

I trained and mentored over 100 people, in-class, in-office and remote. Helping someone identify the gaps in their knowledge, improve their work and position within their team and company is part of what I do.

As a certified mentor, I collaborated with people from all around the world - and more than half got a new job in less than 3 months after going through the program.

Learning the tools and putting together an authentic portfolio are just the first steps! Mentoring is also about developing the self confidence and ability to “play-it” to your strengths. What works for others might not work for you and vice-versa, that’s why an individual, 1-on-1 approach is the best!
